Rhiannon Poore quoted on WYFF 4: “This is a good time to be looking for a job”

Rhiannon Poore, founder and CEO of Forge Search, a professional recruiting company based in Greenville, said after a year of layoffs and salary freezes, many companies are once again hiring.
The positions her team works to fill are typically professional salaried jobs and leadership roles in accounting, finance, HR and marketing. Poore said many companies are seeing a dramatic change from one year ago.
"A year ago everybody was afraid to leave their job and now, experts are calling it 'The Great Resignation' because employees are leaving in droves," Poore said.
WYFF News 4 Investigates broke down LinkedIn survey information gathered in March and found that millennials are more likely to be looking for flexibility now, compared to any other generation. The study defines millennials as people born between 1981 and 1995. More than half of millennials surveyed said work-life balance is more important now than it was a year ago.
"I think they're less willing to wait something out. It used to be, you stayed somewhere and you waited it out, even if it was difficult, right? And I think now people are like, 'Nope, life is short, and I'm not going to stick it out in a job that I don't like,'" Poore said.
Poore said that companies need to realize that employees are people first, and managers should ask themselves what they're doing to keep their team engaged and wanting to work for them.
"You can't take it for granted anymore. People have choices," Poore said.
Poore said this is a good time for job-seekers to outline their goals and think about the top priorities that they have to have in order to make a move. She also said too much movement on a resume can raise a red flag, and people should stick it out at a job for at least one year.
